Valentine’s day is around the corner so I decided to put together a few ideas to help you celebrate it.
I am not a big fan of buying material gifts, specially being with someone for so many years it gets difficult to find new things.. so my go to ‘gift’ is an experience.. something that will create a memory.
With that in mind here is my list of ideas to surprise your love…
5- Romantic Dinner
You can never go wrong with good food. The most basic Valentines experience is a romantic dinner with amazing food and some cocktails. Dublin has some amazing restaurants and fits everyone’s budget. Some of my favourite options are Ciao Bella Roma for Italian food, 777 for Mexican and cocktails, The Port House and Tapas de Lola for Spanish tapas, Musachi and Yamamori for Japanese. If you want something fancier the best options are Taste of Rustic for some Asian food with an Irish twist and Fade Street Social.
4- Picnic in the Park
Nothing says “I love you” like a picnic in the park. Steal a while on Valentine’s Day this year, for a stroll (or cycle) around Dublin’s Phoenix Park – the largest enclosed park in Europe – and pack up that picnic basket. Bonus points will go for those who remember to bring a wine bottle opener and a picnic blanket.
3- SPA day
Another great idea is a SPA day for the both of you. Dublin is full of options and also outside Dublin you can find many SPAs with special packages for Valentine’s day and be honest.. who doesn’t like a massage!?
2- Visit St. Valentine himself
At Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church, Co DublinThe Irish Carmelite John Spratt gave such rousing sermons during his 1835 visit to Rome that an impressed Pope Gregory XVI decided to give him the remains of the Roman martyr Valentinius (Saint Valentine). Devotees still light candles at his shrine today.
On February 14th, his shrine is moved to higher alter and masses include special Blessings of the Rings ceremony for those that are soon to be married.
1 – And of course … Couples photo shoot with Secret Boudoir
Your love is beautiful. It’s as simple as that. And on hard days, days where it can be difficult to find beauty, looking at photos on your wall and being reminded how beautiful your unique love is can be a wonderful thing. The couples boudoir session is an intimate experience that will only bring you closer to your loved one.
